Print & Media Awards 2025
Awarded:  ‘Environmentally Orientated Company of the Year’. Silver and bronze medals in four other categories.

After winning the German Sustainability Award at the beginning of October, the Düsseldorf-based Druckstudio Group is delighted to announce further successes: at this year’s Print & Media Awards, the most important awards in the German-speaking printing and media industry, the company received awards in three categories. Particularly noteworthy is the gold award for ‘Environmentally Oriented Company of the Year’. It underscores the Düsseldorf-based medium-sized company’s consistent commitment to resource-saving and climate-conscious print production. In addition, the Druckstudio Group received silver as ‘Magazine Printer of the Year’ and ‘Recycled Paper Printer of the Year’ as well as bronze as ‘Catalogue Printer of the Year’ and ‘Book Printer of the Year’.

‘The figures we presented were particularly convincing for the jury,’ says Werner Drechsler, founder and managing director of the Druckstudio Group. Since 2008, for example, the company has reduced its waste volume by 54 percent, its energy consumption for electricity and heat by 41 percent, and its emissions from electricity, heat, and water by 93 percent. It also relies on 100 percent green electricity from hydropower, waste heat from printing machines for heating, chemical-free printing plates, and organic printing inks based on vegetable oil. Thanks to the consistent separation of all production waste and its targeted return to the recycling cycle, the recycling rate is 95 percent. Training courses on efficient machine operation and resource use ensure that the sustainability strategy is firmly anchored in everyday work.

The Druckstudio Group is also certified according to the world’s highest environmental standard, EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), and is one of the few printing companies in Germany to meet the criteria of the Blue Angel DE-UZ 195.

Second award within a few weeks
This latest accolade confirms the course taken by the Düsseldorf-based printing and media service provider, which has been regarded as a pioneer in environmentally friendly printing production in the industry for many years. Just a few weeks ago, the Druckstudio Group was awarded the German Sustainability Award 2025 in the ‘Printing Companies’ category – one of the most prestigious European awards in the field of sustainability.

‘The fact that we have been awarded both the German Sustainability Award and the gold medal at the Druck&Medien Awards this year is a strong signal for us,’ says Werner Drechsler. Sustainability has been paying off for the company for many years and has long been part of its brand essence: ‘What makes ecological sense is usually also economically valuable for us.’ For example, saving energy and resources is not only good for the environment, but also an economic advantage.

Beaming faces at the Druckstudio Group: the management team accepted the Druck&Medien Awards’ ‘Environmentally Oriented Company of the Year’ award in Berlin.
