On October 24, the Druck & Medien Awards were presented for the twentieth time at an atmospheric gala hosted by Lea Wagner at the Grand Hyatt in Berlin. This year, the Duesseldorf-based Druckstudio Group was once again honoured with an award. The company received the Druck & Medien Award in silver in the category “Book Printer of the Year”. In addition to this award, the Druckstudio Group was also among the finalists in three other categories: “Commercial Printer of the Year”, “Magazine Printer of the Year” and “Recycled Paper Printer of the Year”.
Print Service providers who specialise in the production of high quality books are among those who qualify for the “Book Printer of the Year” award. The jury’s decision is based on books with soft or hard covers, perfect binding or thread sewing. However, innovative workflows in book production are also assessed.
The Duesseldorf-based company owes the award to the submitted “Porsche books” and was able to impress the jury in particular with the 7 kgs and 912-pages containing coffee table book “AHEAD” by Porsche.
“For me personally, the 912-page ‘AHEAD’ coffee table book from Porsche, which weighs over 7 kgs, with its open thread stitching and complete printing of the thread-stitched spine, was the biggest challenge in our almost 50-year company history,” summarises Werner Drechsler, Managing Partner and founder of Druckstudio GmbH.
Every year, Deutscher Drucker Verlagsgesellschaft honours the best companies in the German print and media industry for outstanding achievements. With 25 categories, the Druck & Medien Awards show for the 20th time how diverse and broad the industry is. Print products, individuals as well as teams and companies are honoured.
