Druckstudio Group once again honoured as a Green Brand
Award for environmental sustainability – confirmation of the brand’s core values
The Düsseldorf-based Druckstudio Group has once again been awarded the Green Brand seal of approval. The award confirms the company’s market position as one of the most environmentally friendly printing companies in the German-speaking world and serves as a guide to ecologically sustainable printing products for consumers and companies throughout the EU.
The Green Brands Organisation honours brands that have a proven track record of caring for and responsibly managing the environment, climate, nature, biodiversity andresources. To date, only a few printing companies have been awarded this label.
In addition to the Green Brands award, numerous other certifications guarantee Druckstudio Group customers the greatest possible transparency and credibility in terms of sustainability. For example, the company prints in accordance with the strict criteria of the Blue Angel (DE-UZ 195), currently by far the most credible environmental label in the printing sector. Furthermore, the company is certified according to the world’s highest environmental standard, EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme).
Intensive certification process
The certifications prove that the Druckstudio Group not only fulfils its obligations in terms of environmental protection and sustainability, but even voluntarily goes far beyond legal requirements. “Continuous improvement and sustainability shape all our strategic decisions,” explains Managing Director Werner Drechsler. “Against this backdrop, we very consciously underwent this intensive and demanding certification programme.” For customers and their purchasers, the seal of approval offers additional guidance when it comes to selecting a supplier of sustainably produced print products – throughout the EU.
The Green Brands seal of approval is valid for two years, after which recertification is required, involving several stages. At the end of this process, a jury decides whether the seal will be awarded again. The jury includes experts from research, business and non-profit organisations, such as the German Institute for Economic Research, the German Federal Working Group for Environmentally Conscious Management and the Club of Rome. Numerous well-known companies and brands (products) in a wide range of industries across Europe have now been awarded the Green Brands seal.
New EU EmpCo guidelines for quality seals from 2025. What has changed?
With the new EU EmpCo guidelines, which will become legally binding from 2026, the requirements for awards and quality seals are changing fundamentally. In future, all certifications must be individualised and provided with a unique test number (ID). This new transparency requirement strengthens the trust of consumers and businesses and makes it easier to track the respective sustainability validation.
The authenticity of an award can be easily verified:
The respective ID verification number can be entered in the search field on the official GREEN BRANDS website at www.GD-ID.org. The complete validation overview of the brand is then displayed transparently. Alternatively, users can also click on the verification number directly on the green-brands.org/ausgezeichnet-marken/germany page under the brand logo to obtain all relevant information on the certification status. These innovations ensure greater transparency, credibility and security – both for brands and for customers who value reputable, sustainable awards.
Making the entire value chain more sustainable
The Druckstudio Group established an internal Green Team back in 2008. Its task: to make the entire value chain more environmentally friendly in accordance with the highest standards. ‘We have been committed to green printing for many years. Sustainability has long been a key theme throughout our entire value chain. This helped us score points in the certification process. The award proves that our team’s work is paying off,’ says Drechsler. Among other things, the Druckstudio Group relies on green electricity, the use of process waste heat through a heat recovery system on the printing machines, the generation of renewable energy through a photovoltaic system on the roofs of the company buildings, 100% IPA-free printing (alcohol-free printing) and organic inks based on vegetable oil.
