Best of Corporate Publishing 2013 – Druckstudio Group wins silver in “Special Prize for Print & Innovation” category

At this year’s BCP (Best of Corporate Publishing) Awards, the Düsseldorf-based Druckstudio Group won silver in the “Special Prize for Print & Innovation” category for the third time in succession. The print and media service provider impressed the 145 judges of the prestigious contest with its drupa report no. 4.

BCP_Logo_2013Part of Europe’s biggest corporate communication competition, the “Special Prize for Print & Innovation” recognises outstanding examples of surface finishing, material combinations and postpress technology. As befits drupa report no. 4’s focus on packaging, it is sent out in a specially created envelope with textual and typographic elements that form part of the opening process. The eight-page cover also plays with the “now you see it, now you don’t” idea using truncated fold-out pages. Cover pages 1-4 and 5-8 benefit from underlying hot-foil embossing, and a catering guide in DIN oblong format is bonded in a see-through cover. The content reflects the subject matter – packaging – with both visual and tactile effects. Transparent paper printed on both front and reverse sides demonstrates the appeal of partial transparency and overprinting. A thicker individual sheet (beer paper) draws attention to a beer glass with relief embossing that looks real enough to reach out and grab thanks to a UV spot coating. The packaging theme culminates in both form and surface finishing with the extravagant Black Magic Twist paper, which is coated with synthetic fibres on one side. The report whets the reader’s appetite for the industry’s most eclectic sensory experience – the drupa trade fair.
