Triple certification – the Druckstudio Group achieves DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO 14001 and DIN EN ISO 50001

The Druckstudio Group applied for three certifications in 2011 and passed them all first time. The Düsseldorf-based media company is now certified to the internationally recognised standards for quality management (DIN ISO 9001), environmental management (DIN ISO 14001) and energy management (DIN EN 16001). These certifications confirm the Group’s consistently high focus on quality and the environmentally friendly and energy-efficient production of its print products.

“Achieving all certifications first time goes to show that our company is on the right track with its strategy,” says Werner Drechsler, Managing Director of the Druckstudio Group. “This triple certification gives credence to our claim that we consistently strive to enhance our performance in all areas. We constantly scrutinise all our production processes and the infrastructure on which they are based. This way, customers can be sure that our products offer consistently outstanding quality combined with environmentally friendly production to the highest international standards – just like our processes. At the same time, customers are able to seamlessly integrate our products and services into their own standardised processes. What’s more, we are able to use this triple certification to shape our own continuous improvement process, which is also based on the ISO and EN standards.”

It sets globally valid benchmarks for management systems in terms of the quality of production, services and development. “Our quality management system is geared systematically towards sustainable customer orientation”, adds Drechsler. “We are also assessing our internal processes to boost their lean manufacturing credentials further still.”

DIN EN ISO 14001 is aimed at continuously improving environmental management and avoiding harmful environmental effects. “As far as possible, we endeavour to achieve an equally high level of sustainability in all three areas – ecology, economy and social responsibility,” explains Drechsler. “Certification to DIN EN ISO 14001 proves to ourselves and to our customers that we have in place a fully functional and successful environmental policy. In a hard-fought market, this gives us key competitive advantages and meets the requirements of customers who are attaching ever greater importance to environmental protection.”

iso_50001_180x180Since the end of 2011, the Druckstudio Group is also one of the few companies in Germany to be certified to DIN EN ISO 50001 for energy management systems. The certification processes identified and documented further key areas in which Druckstudio could improve its energy efficiency. Druckstudio had already implemented measures to improve its energy efficiency in previous years. “In many production processes, the certification highlighted additional ways to systematically unlock energy-saving potential and reduce greenhouse gas emissions as part of our consistent energy management policy,” says Drechsler. “We will now utilise this potential as well and harness it in additional targeted activities.”

The Druckstudio Group was awarded all three certifications by the independent body DQS GmbH (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen), which is responsible for the certification of management systems. Founded in 1985 as the first German certification body, DQS GmbH is now a leading international certification company with offices and auditors in 50 countries worldwide.
